DIDI-Chart — automated ENC updates for ECDIS
Encrypted, verified nautical chart updates delivered fleet-wide, retiring manual USB-stick distribution and giving shore teams live compliance visibility.
Challenge & solution
Keeping ECDIS charts current has traditionally meant couriering USB sticks to vessels and trusting that someone aboard applied them correctly — with no shoreside visibility into whether a ship is actually compliant. Under SOLAS that is a safety and audit exposure, not just an inconvenience.
DIDI-Chart automates the whole path. ENC updates are delivered encrypted and verified over links that may be intermittent or low-bandwidth, every file is hash-validated twice, and a shore dashboard shows update and compliance status across the fleet. It is vendor-agnostic across major ECDIS systems and supports UKHO AVCS, AIO, ARCS, PRIMAR and C-MAP.
Approach
- 01
Zero-trust by default
Designed so nothing is trusted implicitly: every chart package is verified before it is accepted, and no inbound ports are exposed on the vessel.
- 02
Built for bad connectivity
Assumes the link will drop. Transfers resume, and a vessel is never left in a partially-updated state.
- 03
Integrity end to end
Double hash validation, once centrally and once locally, so tampering or corruption in transit cannot reach a chart display.
- 04
Shore-side oversight
A dashboard giving fleet operators per-vessel update and compliance status, replacing assumption with evidence.
